UFA clubs are aimed at providing young people with extended learning activities that enrich, and increase the range of learning opportunities outside of the school day in a safe environment
Clubs can be based on a theme like our THINK! Kits (Scuttle bugs, light and sumo) or based around learning to learn activities or run to support homework. Clubs are run by trained staff and supported by peer tutors. The UFA provides training and resources to enable this to take place. Activities can be certificated for the number of hours that they participate for and Peer Tutors can receive accreditation.
The training for adults provides a framework for setting up these high quality learning activities using the UFA's proven learning model. Adults could be educationalists such as teachers, learning mentors or teaching assistants or they could be adults with specialist expertises such as artist, sport coaches, or parents and community volunteers with an interest to share. We also have lots of ideas for evaluating impact which you can find on the evaluation pages.
Bentley Drive School in Walsall set up UFA Revision clubs to enable children to revise using a variety of strategies that would suit their individual learning differences. Although the clubs took place in school the learning environment was further enhanced with stimulating posters and resources. Each session began with an energiser activity and a healthy snack to aid their concentration.
