Whole Education

Whole Education is a partnership of like-minded individuals and organisations that believe that all young people should have a fully rounded education, developing the knowledge, skills and qualities needed to help them thrive in life and work.

Education should be much more than examination syllabuses, national tests or the national curriculum so Whole Education encourages everyone involved in education to look outside the narrow confines of these externally imposed constraints. The government is giving schools new curriculum freedoms. Now is the time to re-think the curriculum and ensure that all young people have access to the right blend of knowledge and skills.

Evidence Base

Ensuring that decisions are informed by evidence is increasingly recognised as important by policymakers and practitioners. evidence base places equal emphasis on the interpretation and communication of research findings as it does on the gathering and analysis of data. Facilitate more effective use of research and evaluation findings. Assist in the interpretation of research findings. Make research findings accessible beyond the research community. Support bids for development and research funding.

LOtC Manifesto Launch

The UFA is delighted to support the Learning Outside the Classroom Manifesto, launched by the Secretary of State for Education and Skills on 28 November 2006. We have endorsed the Manifesto because we believe it will help to ensure that all children and young people have a variety of high quality experiences outside the classroom environment, as an essential part of their learning and development.
