As the office winds down and we close the UFA doors for the last time in 2015, we’d like to use this blog to not only thank everyone for their support this year – be that members of staff or partner organisations, but to also reflect on some of the fantastic projects and opportunities we’ve been involved in.
We’ve had some amazing NCS programmes go out across the country and fantastic feedback from the young people we work with; “If it wasn’t for NCS I wouldn’t have this confidence. NCS allowed me to come out of my comfort zone and made me work with people I didn’t know as a team.” Autumn graduate, Accrington.
We were nominated for a Children and Young People award. Members of our national and local team attended the event along with those young people involved in the social action project. The group of young people then had a tour of Parliament, and even sent us a lovely postcard!
We began work on our Mercer’s project, where we’ll be tracking the development of more than 100 young people across both primary and secondary level as they become peer tutors and tutees. Their experiences will also be captured on camera by Paul Davis, a fantastic film maker.
Top Tutors, our subsidiary tutoring agency covering London and the Home Counties, had their first tutor networking event. Manjit Shellis, UFA national manager, and Linda Gregory, Chief Executive, both spoke at the event. Overall the feedback was extremely positive, with tutors expressing how much they’d learned from Manjit’s session and meeting their fellow tutors and the Top Tutors team. The day was such a success on January 16th 2016 we’re holding another networking session!
2016 is already shaping up to be an exciting time for UFA; our Peer Tutor film premiere, our 20th anniversary, more fantastic NCS programmes and new partner organisations. We honestly can’t wait.
We’d like to finish by thanking all the truly inspiring young people we work with, their passion and enthusiasm to learn new skills never ceases to humble and amaze us. They’re the reason we do what we do.
So thank you everyone once again and we hope you all have a great break. We look forward to working with you all again next year!
